2009 BitDefender Review

Your car comes with a warranty when you buy it so long as it’s a new car. Whenever there is a problem you can take it in, have them look at it, and let them do all of the fixing. Now, imagine that your car came with a device that literally prevented 99% of the things that could possibly go wrong. This device blocks incoming vehicles, preventing any accidents; it prevents poor oil or fuel from crippling the vehicle, allowing it to run efficiently; it keeps underage drivers from starting the vehicle, meaning that there is less possibility for exposing of young minds.

If your car was actually your new computer, wouldn’t you be enthralled to purchase that kind of protection? BitDefender is one such device that, when installed on your computer, can help maintain your computer and prevent future catastrophes. Think of it as an unlimited mileage service plan.

Features

This software does just about every security related thing there is to do.

It has a firewall, which is adept at blocking incoming and outgoing traffic generated by the user, off-site users, applications, and web-site requests. Don’t want to be on the internet today? No problem, just block off all incoming and outgoing traffic and WOILA, you’re officially the only person in civilized America that is off of the internet. It also includes an anti-virus, which is customizable, easy to use, and overly simple. There isn’t much to say here except that it’s capable and functional. The anti-spyware, however, is worth a special mention. This program is adept at what it does, and we are happy to see that it operates without complaint. BitDefender also includes a set of parental controls, rounding out the package and making it our number one choice.

Using BitDefender

It works. It blocked all incoming viruses, stopped the traffic that we specified, allowed traffic on the ports we wanted, kept Trojans and other spyware from taking root on the computer, and prevented us from viewing pornographic material.

We tried. And tried. And tried again. We could not break this software; there was no way for us to get a virus by (unless we had just written it), as the program simply caught everything. A credible feat, and definitely one worth mentioning.

Conclusion

This review may have been a bit shorter than what you were expecting given our enthusiasm for the product, but that’s more because we didn’t have anything to complain about. Everything is user friendly, laid out well, and easy, simple, perfect.
