Audio to Go is kind of like the NetFlix of audio books. With your membership, you simply select the audio books that you would like to listen to and they mail them to your home. They currently do not sell audio books directly from their site, however they have just expanded in to selling the audio books through Amazon. The prices on the audio books vary depending on the title that you choose.
Variety
Audio to Go does not have the large selection of categories that other audio book sites do. The website also does not offer audio samples or reviews of any of the adio books that they do have available. Until their recent expansion in to audio books sales through Amazon, they were strictly an audio book rental site. You choose the first fifty audio books that you would like to listen to, then they mail you the one that is on the top of the list and when you are finished with it you mail it back and they send you the next audio book on your list and so on. There are no shipping and handling fees, due dates, or late charges. Since they do not offer reviews or samples, they do offer a few lists that you can choose from if you can not make your mind up. They have lists such as New York Times Best Sellers and Oprah’s Favorites.
Memberships
They offer a try it before you buy it free one month trial and if you do choose to buy a membership, they have five different plans to choose from. They are Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. You choose your plan based on how many audio books you want to rent at a time. With Basic, you pay only $14.99 per month and you can only get one full audio book and with Platinum, you pay $49.99 per month but you get to have five full audio books at a time. The yearly membership that they have available will save you money in the long run, but before you pay the membership fee make sure that this is definitely what you want to do.
Usability
Audiotogo.com is very easy to navigate around, very well organized, and they have all the tools to help you find the audio books that you want.
Summary
Overall, this is a very user-friendly website and even though their variety of categories is not very large, they still offer a lot of audio books to choose from to rent.
