Audiobooks.com is a website that offers four different options for audio books, buy, rent, download, and trade. This gives them a larger selection than some of the other audio book websites. The catalog branches off in a lot of different directions making it a little difficult to know where you want to go in order to find the book you are looking for.
Tools and Features
They have three different purchasing options that you can choose from. You can buy and audio book on cd or cassette tape, rent an audio book on cd or cassette tape, or you can choose to buy an audio book download. They also have a trade-in plan that allows you to trade in your used audio books for credits towards the purchase of another.
They have about eight different catalogs that you can look through and you can also search within the catalog to find what you are looking for. The catalogs they have are full length unabridged, compact discs, sale new 30% off, best sellers audio picks, new releases, future releases (in the studio), sale used 50% off, and MP3 cds. They also offer a comprehensive catalog that you can search through as well. When searching for you book, you can do so by either title, author, performer, or publisher. You can also further limit your search results by entering whether or not you want to view all editions or full length unabridged only, depending on what you are looking for.
Even though the library of audio books is divided in to categories and subcategories, and on many different topics, the categories were unorganized and some of them did not have any audio books in them at all.
Membership and Usability
They offer memberships that range in price from $25 per month and up depending on how many rentals you want at a time. For one rental per month it is $25, three rentals per month is $35 and four per month is $45. There are six and twelve month discounted rental plans that are available. The price for purchasing an audio book varies depending on which title you want to buy.
Audiobooks.com is a little harder to navigate around and it seems to be somewhat unorganized. When you search the categories you get a very long alphabetical list and they do not have pictures.
Summary
This site would be a lot better if it was more organized and better designed. They also may have some hard to find books you could be looking for because they do offer a very large selection.
