Dexster Audio Review
2009 Dexster Audio Editor Review
Dexster Audio Editor 3 is a great program made by Softdiv Software. It helps you to create professional sounding audio projects with ease. It may not have quite as many editing tools as other programs of its kind, but it makes up for it with its ease of use. You can use this to pull audio from video, convert file formats, record from the internet, add special effects, and filter and burn cds.
Tools and Features
With the manufacturer of this software constantly making changes and improvements to this product, you can not go wrong with this purchase. Dexster Audio Editor 3 can perform batch conversions and processing, marker editing and tag information editing. The edit features do come with a preview option so that they can be adjusted to what you are trying to do.
This editing software has quite a few preset effects including compressor/expander, fade in/out, cross fading, phase, flange, normalize, reverb, envelope, and vibrato. It also offers a great selection of filters like high/low shelf, notch, band pass, FFT and also a peak equalizer filter. You can also use it to reduce silences, vocals and trim.
It also has a cd burning program within it that is very easy to use. You can record anything off the internet, your line-in, what you have ripped from cds, or what you have pulled from video files. It does work with many of the file formats out there which is a big plus. The quality of the cds that you burn with this software are really good and sound professional.
Ease of Use
This software is very easy to use because you do not have to be some professional audio editor in order to understand how to use it. It has drop down menus, boxes for the controls, effects and zoom preferences and that is just on the main menu. You can also mix audio files by simply cutting and pasting the together to make your own audio file. It also supports the use of some of the basic windows shortcut keys like the one for cut (ctrl+x).
Tech Support
They do offer free upgrades for a whole year which comes in handy with the tutorials that are included with the software. It also has an easy to read user manual, FAQs, an online user forum, a definition of terms, and you can also reach the company via email if none of the other things help you out.
Summary
This is a great program for both the expert and the beginner. It is compatible with all versions of Windows. This version is nearly 100% Vista compatible and the company says that the next version will be completely compatible.
