2009 B-Coder Review

There have been several programs offered for B-Coder. There is the B-Coder Lite that has been designed for people who are able to create a single barcode at a time other then having automated generation. The B-Coder professional version has been recommend more often due to the fact that it is more capable program and is a fair amount more flexible. Depending on your needs will depend on the program you’d prefer.

Bar Codes:

There are several barcodes that B-Coder Lite is capable of making. These include:

  • Code 39
  • UPC A & E
  • EAN 8 & 13
  • Bookland
  • Interleaved 2 of 5
  • Postnet

If you are requiring barcodes for Code 128 you will then need to upgrade to the professional version of the B-Coder.

Compatibility:

The label creation for B-Coder Lite is quite simple. You are able to copy the barcodes and then paste them into your program that will allow label creation. The lite version of the B-Coder has been stated on the site that you are unable to transfer your barcodes into programs like Microsoft Word and Access, but you will be able to with the professional version. There are several different formats that you can choose to save your barcodes in:

  • Wmf
  • Eps
  • Tif
  • Gif
  • Ai

The B-Coder is compatible with the Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 programs currently.

Label Design Tools:

There have been numerous barcode options offered with the B-Coder Lite program. Some customization options you have available are the barcode colouring, background colours, orientation, text, and font selection. There are not as many options available for the actual label options allowing you to take your barcodes to the next step. These barcodes are supposed to be transferred into a separate program that will create and print the labels, which minimized all the available options.

Ease of Use:

B-Coder Lite is quite basic when it comes to the actual use of the program. It would have been a little better if you had the option to copy and paste as well as you can in B-Coder Pro, but if you are not looking for all the features offered in the pro version the lite version is a great selection.

Help/Support:

There is a free technical support feature available of the telephone and email. The TALTech site provides FAQs, the option to search knowledgebase, and read over the product manuals. All inquiries will be taken care of quickly and efficiently.

Summary:

If you want a barcode program that is easy to use and has great customization options, B-Coder Lite is an astounding choice. If you don’t require a large amount of barcodes and have a marvellous label marker, B-Coder Lite will fit your needs.
