Norton Confidential Review Symantec is a behemoth of a company, and just about everyone has used one of their products. They have successfully marketed their anti-virus and firewall in such a way that many people now swear by them, regardless of how effective the product actually is (or isn't). So, it only makes sense that the software giant would expand its reach
Norton Confidential reaches the same audience as their anti-virus and firewall. For Norton, this meant a few things: the product had to work, the product had to be user friendly, and the product had to be idiot-proof. All of these statements needed to be true simply because their target audience - new or mainstream computer users - simply will not accept any other type of solution. This is why Linux has never taken off, and why the Mac is becoming increasingly popular.
So, with Norton Confidential all loaded up and ready to go, let's see how it compares against some of its competition.
Features The feature list of Norton Confidential is pretty standard, with nothing really standing out or setting it apart from the pack. NC will protect your passwords as well as other information; NC blocks known phishing websites and offers warnings when entering a suspicious website; NC removes crimeware; NC stores and encrypts passwords; NC updates itself via its Live Update service.
Norton Confidential does a bit of everything, from password encryption to crimeware deletion, and all of that is a good thing. After all, adding more features to a program of this type certainly won't hurt anything.
However, there are other products that have more features, or features that are more intuitive.
Using Norton Confidential This software is pretty basic. Install, allow it to do its thing, and then you're off to the races. The password storage system is quite easy to figure out, and it is able to pluck it in whenever required. Unlike some other programs, which require you to toil away through various configuration menu's, Norton Confidential is as close to “plug and play” as they come.
We are happy to report that Norton Confidential had no impact on our computers performance, and even though it displays itself as a tool bar in Internet Explorer, it had no affect on your browsing experience either. We were unable to notice any slowdowns that we could attribute to Norton Confidential, and our CPU usage remained unchanged.
Conclusion We are quite happy with how this software looks, feels, and performs. Unlike some other products, it is not intrusive and it certainly does not feel bulky or overstated. The options are easy to configure, and the software itself performed very well.
We give Norton Confidential our recommendation, and we are glad to see that it can be purchased as part of a total security package for a deeply discounted price.
