RoboForm Review

With a name that sounds like something out of an old 60s B-grade movie, RoboForm is our top pick when it comes to password managing software. Despite the name (which we just happen to like) this software is polished and capable. It has an extensive feature list, and our experience has shown it to be stable and reliable. Quite a difference from some of the other software on the market.

This software is the result of a lot of attention and responsiveness towards the requests of their user base. If all software was made like this there would be no complaints about missing features or poorly implemented interfaces. In the case of RoboForm, the software is intuitive... almost too intuitive. This software was so easy to use that we've actually left it installed on our computer and continue to use it. After all, why get rid of a good thing?

Features

The feature list for this software is literally a mile long. It has all of the standard features, such as autofill and password storage, as well as some other, more advanced features such as password memorization, device synchronization, password generation, password encryption, and works across all the major platforms (Internet Explorer and FireFox).

One important comment to make is that RoboForm is also mobile compatible, and can be used on devices with the Windows CE and PalmOS operating systems. These adds a whole new dimension of usability to the software, as it can now be used across various devices. What does this mean for you? Selection and freedom, and lots of it.

Using RoboForm

This software has had some major media coverage: it has been a download.com recommended download for the last 4 years, as well as having been mentioned by prestigious outlets such as the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal. This software is well established, and it's only getting better with age.

Though we didn't test out the mobile functions ourselves, we know of a few people that use this software on their mobile devices and love it. We have never heard one complaint about it, so we're going to go with it works just fine. The integration that this software is able to achieve is uncanny, and it will have you wondering where the heck these passwords and user names are coming from.

The ability to fill out registration information is great, as the process goes from being a few minutes to literally one click. Filling out online applications is a cinch, and any forms that the program doesn't recognize aren't mis-filled. You should check to make sure that all of the fields have the required information when you use this feature.

The program prompted us every time we created a new user name/password combination to let us know that it has learned the new information.
