Popup Purger Pro Review Looking for an effective solution to those incredibly annoying popups is becoming harder and harder. It's not so much the programs fault, as nearly every popup-blocking program will block known popups, and some will even block known adware/spyware programs as well. The problem is that the popups change quite often, and the result is software that doesn't block the new incarnations.
Popup Purger Pro is a “preventative” tool, and claims that it is effectively able to block current, as well as future popups. How it handles popups that aren't even invented yet is beyond me, and only will time tell if it's true or not. However, that is certainly a large claim to be making, and we'd at least like to find out why it makes them.
Feature Set Popup Purger Pro can block current popups, spyware programs, adware programs, instant messaging pop ups, as well as myriad of other different types. So, we know that the capability is there. We could write down the exact list of features, but it wouldn't exactly fit in a 500-word review, now would it?
One noticeable difference is that Popup Purger Pro can also block “floating ads”, and it does give you the option (via a safe key) to temporarily allow popups. This feature might not seem important, but if you use any kind of web based e-mail services, you will need to allow them to allow popups when you are adding file attachments. I'm sure there are other good reasons for this as well.
Popup Purger Pro is actually very competitively priced, and is only $30. That cost, including the barrage of features and capabilities that his program offers, really facilitate Popup Purger Pro's reputation as a reliable, stable, and valuable piece of software.
So, how does it perform?
Using Popup Purger Pro This software is a snap to install and configure, and it should take you no time at all to figure out the gist of it. Some software requires that you jump through hoops to get it running properly, and thankfully, Popup Purger Pro only requires that you install and run it. This is a nice change from the menu after menu algorithm that many other programs follow.
One of our design guys created a new type of inline popup advertisement, and we were eager to try this software out on it. This new type of popup works by a PHP-include call for a javascript applet, and in theory, should bypass the popup blocker. Popup Purger Pro took it down, however, giving us a beep to let us know that the popup had been wasted. Sweet.
Conclusion If anything, our only complaint is that Popup Purger Pro is a bit basic, and doesn't include too many advanced options, such as a more comprehensive safe list or perhaps even some cleaning capabilities. In either case, the market has shown that they want a good, reliable popup blocker for right around $30, and that's exactly what we get.
